Gulcha or Gulcho is a important village on the road M41, between Osh city and Sary-Tash village. Gulcha is the capital of the Alay district.

There is an interesting legend about Gulcha: In the past, he was a well-known, just and wise khan to the black Chinese people. No matter how much he cried out to God, he had no hooves and no children. One day, when that black Chinese khan was traveling around the country and resting in the Kyrgyz land, Alai, in the flower field between the mountains, a girl like Aiperide gave birth. Despite pleading with God a thousand times, the khan, who was childless and longed for the scent of a child, was overjoyed, held a big wedding and named his daughter "Too-Gulu" or "Gulshan". For a beautiful baby, the Chinese princess built a palace in a flower field where she was born, protected it and turned it into a flower garden. When her daughter grows up, a washerwoman comes. But there is no suitable husband for Gulshan. Gulshan's beauty spread all over the world, and the elders of the Kyrgyz people consulted and came to the Chinese khan to ask where to draw the girl. The khan liked the hospitality and generosity of the Kyrgyz people, the land, water and fresh air of Alai. Gulshan fell in love with the young man. The Black Chinese khan thought deeply and agreed with his mentor and his only daughter. So the bride and groom come to the palace to drive the cattle full of nine lambs. On the day of the wedding, the table is spread and filled with different flavors. At that moment, Gulshan took a handful of raisins from the table and put them in her mouth. Among the raisins was his son Karakurt. The girl died instantly from Karakurt's poison. It is said that darkness descended on the universe, and neither the Chinese khan nor the gods knew what to do.
