Kara-Balta is located 62 km from Bishkek.

The city has a rich history. She was called Shish-Debe, Shish-Tepe. But the best known of names is Nuzket. Kara-Balta (Nuzket) was one of the most important centers on the Silk Road and the largest industrial crossroads in the Chui region. The town was an important medieval village. Travelers could spend the night here, protect themselves from thieves, sell or trade goods with profit. And the goods that were produced here, went to distant lands on the Silk Road. The town has become a link between mountains and plains.

Kara-Balta (Nuzket) was a cultural center. Also, household items were produced. For example, ceramic products are made manually or on the potter's wheel. They were of high quality and elaborate ornamentation, with lids and handles in the form of birds, animals, man etc.

The city is surrounded by greenery: an infinite number of pines grow on the main street: Turar Kojomberdieva street and in the two main parks. The inhabitants of this city planted more than 30,000 fruit trees and decorative trees.
