On November 19, 2021, the grand opening of the Historical Museum in Bishkek, which was closed for reconstruction for five whole years, took place. This Museum used to be called the Lenin Museum and it was opened in 1926. Now local residents and tourists have a unique opportunity to see historical monuments with their own eyes!

About 1.5 billion soms from the budget plus a $15 million grant from Turkey were allocated for the reconstruction of the facility. The museum was renovated without a tender and design and estimate documentation. The reconstructed building both inside and outside now looks modern and spacious.

To the left of the entrance are the scandalous famous horse figures. Opposite the figures are shyrdaks, kalpaks, national costumes and a flag with a coat of arms. Here you can also see cabinets, racks for exhibits. But they are still empty. Further between the first and second floor in the center there is an installation "Barsbek".

The second floor features exhibits from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, the nomadic culture of Turkic-speaking states, the period of Kyrgyz great power, the Turkic and Mongolian eras.

Stone sculptures, earthenware, cauldrons, a sacrificial table, a smoker, items of burial equipment, daggers, spearheads and other archaeological finds of those centuries are neatly arranged on racks.

The third floor is dedicated to the 15th-17th centuries, the Kokand Khanate, and the foreign relations of the Kyrgyz at that time. The exhibits convey the identity of the people in economic management and material values. There are a lot of weapons of ancient Kyrgyz here.

Paintings and illustrations of historical figures are also kept on this floor.

The attention of visitors is attracted by a large decorated yurt.

And next to the room "Musical Culture", where Kyrgyz instruments such as kerney, surnai, sybyzgy, choor, chopo choor, komuz and others are presented. In this room you can also listen to the sound of these instruments.

The exhibits on this floor reflect how the written language changed, the birth of the national liberation uprising, political repressions of the 30s, World War I and the Great Patriotic War, the collapse of the Union and other significant events.
