Tavan Bogd

The Tavan Bogd, also known as the "Five Saints," is a mountain massif situated in Mongolia, near the tripoint border shared with China and Russia. Its highest peak, Khüiten Peak (formerly known as Nairamdal Peak), stands as Mongolia's highest point, reaching an elevation of 4,374 meters above sea level.

The Tavan Bogd massif predominantly lies within Mongolia's Bayan-Ölgii Province, with its northern slopes extending into Russia's Altai Republic, and its western part reaching China's Burqin County.

In addition to Khüiten Peak, the Tavan Bogd massif comprises four other prominent peaks: Nairamdal, Malchin, Bürged (eagle), and Ölgii (motherland). The Mongolian section of the Tavan Bogd massif is encompassed by the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, covering an area of 6,362 km2. The park includes notable lakes such as Khoton, Khurgan, and Dayan. This protected region serves as a habitat for various alpine wildlife species, including Argali sheep, Ibex, Red deer, Beech marten, Moose, Snow cock, and Golden eagle.
