"Ordo" - Kyrgyz national game

Ordo is one of the most widespread games of the Kyrgyz people, which has survived from ancient times to the present day. The word "ordo" itself means "Khan's stake, khan's palace". The game reproduces the battle for capturing the stake.

The game of ordo represented a kind of military map, with the help of which warriors were trained how to defeat the enemy. A circle drawn on the ground signified the territory of the state, and rivals worked out a battle plan. Knocking out the khan meant toppling the ruler from the throne.

Street arteries can be compared to futurists who created new art by protesting propaganda and academism. Street artists also blur the lines between professional and non-professional art. And the good of street art in Kyrgyzstan over time is accepted as art, not «vandalism». Most of the work of interesting artists can be found on the walls of buildings or, fences and other places. In this blog we will show you and tell you about murals, as in Bishkek murals occupy a rather interesting part of street art. Tash-Rabat to Chatyr Kol

This is a great hike from Tash Rabat to Chatyr Kol. It's long, so if you are taking camping equipment, you would probably want to do this in two days. There is a yurt camp at the end of the hike, so you can do this with a day pack. There are yak herds along the trek, so you are likely to encounter them. They tend to be afraid of humans.

Toguz Korgool is a Kyrgyz folk game

The first records of this game were found in the Egyptian pyramids, about 7 thousand years old. Ancient Egyptian drawings show that the most avid players were African traders, who spent not a little free time playing the game while waiting for their cargoes or during long journeys. Thousands of years ago this game left the African continent and spread to Asia, the Caribbean, South America and Europe. The most characteristic element of mankala games is the acquisition of stones.

Top 10 things to do in Karakol, Kyrgyzstan

Karakol is a great base camp for day tours or multi-day tours in the mountains near by. The trekking and horseback riding possibilities are limitless and it’s still possible to find places that are untouched by large tour groups. My advice is to spend at least one full day in Karakol to just walk around and enjoy something different than Bishkek, Osh, and Kochkor. I hope you enjoy this blog post about Karakol and the area if you have any questions about the Karakol area get a hold of me. You can enjoy a short film about me here: About Alex
