Nepal traditional food

Nepalese cuisine refers to the food eaten in Nepal. Nepal's cultural and geographic diversity has resulted in a variety of cuisines based upon ethnicity and on soil and climate.

The subtropical character of the latter allows for intensive agriculture, including rice, lentils, corn, wheat and potatoes are the main productions.

Strongly Vegetarian, Nepalese cuisine is based on the use of rice and lentils. It borrows both, Indian and Tibetan food traditions, whose influence dates back to the Middle Ages.
