Fan Niagara high waterfall

Tajikistan has many beautiful mountain lakes. While Lake Karakul in the Eastern Pamirs is considered the largest lake in Tajikistan, the deepest lake is Lake Sarez, located in the western part of the Pamirs, and the most beautiful lake in the country is undoubtedly Iskanderkul.

Iskanderkul is located in the delightful Fann Mountains. The lake has many stories, legends and traditions that the inhabitants have passed on by word of mouth. The story says that the beauty of this miracle nature conquered even Alexander the Great during his military campaign to Central Asia. That is why the lake was named in his honour - Iskander (Alexander). The turbulent Iskander Darya River flows out of the lake, which forms an unusually beautiful and majestic waterfall called "Fan Niagara", falling from a height of 38 metres.
