Tulpar-Kol lake

A turquoise blue lake surrounded by green meadows where Kyrgyz nomads set up their yurts in summer. The lake often reflects Lenin Peak, one of the 7,000-meter peaks of the Pamir Mountains.

In the heart of the Achyk Tash valley, the Toulpar Kel lakes form an array of shimmering small lakes situated on the ancient moraine of the Lenin Glacier. Located just opposite the base camps of Lenin Peak (7,134 m), they offer a haven of tranquility in a magnificent setting, between high-altitude steppes and snowy peaks. A pedestrian bridge allows easy access to the base camps and the trail leading to Lenin Peak.

Every summer, our eco-tourism partners set up their yurts by the lakes and welcome travelers in a warm and authentic atmosphere. However, to preserve the purity of the waters, swimming in the lakes is strictly prohibited. It is an ideal place to spend a few days, hike on foot or on horseback, and immerse in the Kyrgyz pastoral life. In winter, the region transforms and is suitable for both ski hikes and walking or horseback rides in the snow.

Besides ascending the nearby peaks over 4,000 meters, many accessible excursions are possible: following the Achyk Tash river towards Lenin Peak, or heading east to reach the Tuyuk valley. For amateur mountaineers, several peaks await, such as ITMO Peak (4,729 m) or the "900 Years Minsk" Peak (4,774 m).

Access to the Tulpar Kel lakes is easily done from the village of Sary Mogol, located 22 km away in the vast Alay plain, where the local CBT (Community-Based Tourism) organizes transfers.
